If you’re a small business how can you cut through the marketing noise? Chances are you are trying and it is a slow progress, not everybody can run multi-channel media campaigns such as the clean pairings campaign being rolled out by Panera Bread. There are plenty of things you can be doing even if your marketing budget is on less than a shoe string.

Create a great memorable experience, capitalize on all the areas that your customers come into contact with your business. These are called touch points, but you should look at touch points as opportunities. You have the opportunity to deliver a great product, provide outstanding service, and accent your brand by providing an atmosphere that is inviting and engaging.

For example, if you require your customers to fill out a form while at your office, in addition to having a hospitable desk clerk who is knowledgeable provide fresh cut flower to the area. People have reported being happier and more energetic after looking at fresh flowers, but think of the added message this conveys.

Build relationships, It is a less expensive to keep a customer than it is to go out and find a new one. That’s why establishing customer relationships is crucial from the very first time that person comes into contact with your business. One of the ways you can do that is by launching an email campaign. Make your communications informative and helpful — something your customers will look forward to receiving. Social media campaigns are another way to keep the communication flowing. Never be afraid to offer your customers an exclusive offer that is more lucrative than your other advised offers, this builds value to your email marketing and can prompt additional sign ups. It is a known fact that email list erode over time, that is why you should always be in the cycle of adding to your collection of email addresses. The industry average for unsubscribing from mailing list is up to 25% per year!

Create buzz, toot your own horn! If you do something cool, interesting, or new with your business than talk about it! You are entitled to it! Post about it, blog about it, and tell your friends! Try to find ways that you can become connected or involved with your community, such as sponsoring a Little League team or providing your services free of charge for the day at a local nursing home. This is very critical for small communities that hold a high value to relationships!

Give your business a brand. Think about a logo that conveys the brands values and purpose, for some business it is easier than others to come up with a business logo and personality. If you are providing a service or selling goods that are being consumed by children, an animal logo is often appropriate. The visual association happens at a very young age and often children’s products are purchased by a female. In a recent survey of mothers, Logos with animals turned out to be the most preferable among mothers. 59% of all respondents voted for logos with animals.

I do not want to write about it, but I will. It is 2016 you must realize the power of your digital presence through social media and your website. Make sure it is uniform and provides a professional appearance and function on all devices, there are some great tools out there that enable you to connect to where your customers are online! Find a business who does social media really well and mimic or tailor it to fit your brands function, you do not have to reinvent the wheel!

As always be creative in your own way, let experiences influences your brands communications. It is always easier be what you are instead of pretending to be something you are not!
